Candice Jackson appointed Acting Director, Education Department Civil Rights Office

April 19, 2017: U.S. Department of Education Secretary Betsy DeVos has appointed Candice Jackson as the Acting Director of the Education Department’s Office for Civil Rights. Jackson has been appointed to lead the office’s 550 staffers in investigating civil rights complaints until DeVos nominates a permanent Director of the office. That full-time nominee will require U.S. Senate confirmation.
