April 21, 2017: Bill Lake has resigned as the Media Bureau Chief at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Lake has been succeeded in that post by Michelle Carey. Lake has been hired at the law firm Wiley Rein LLP as a Consulting Counsel. Lake led the FCC’s Media Bureau from 2009 to 2017, after working on the DTV transition. He previously worked in private practice at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr, leading the firm’s practice in communications and e-commerce. Lake also worked in government at the U.S. Department of State and at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The FCC and EPA are independent federal government agencies.
