Alvin Crawley to resign as Alexandria, Va., Public Schools Superintendent in July, 2017

May 15, 2017: Alexandria, Va., Public Schools Superintendent Alvin Crawley announced on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, that he plans to resign in July, 2017. Crawley is resigning to take a post as a professor at George Mason University’s graduate school of education. George Mason University is located in Fairfax County, Virginia. Crawley has worked in education for thirty-seven years. He has been Alexandria’s Schools Superintendent for nearly four years. He has also worked as an Administrator in Arlington County, Va., and in Prince George’s County, Maryland.
