Dick Wolfe retired as Colorado State Engineer, Water Resources Division Director

July 14, 2017: Kevin Rein was appointed yesterday, Thursday, July 13, 2017, as the Colorado State Engineer and as the Director of the Colorado Division of Water Resources by Gov. John Hickenlooper. Rein succeeds Dick Wolfe, who retired at the end of June, 2017, after ten years in the post. Rein was most recently the Colorado Deputy State Engineer, a post he held since 2008. Rein has worked for the Colorado Water Resources Division since 1998. The Division of Water Resources is part of the Colorado Department of Natural Resources. The State Engineer’s Office was created in 1881 and includes 260 employees. Its mission is to administer and distribute the waters of Colorado in accordance with state law; ensure that dams and water wells are properly constructed and maintained to ensure public safety; and to develop, maintain, and provide access to accurate and timely information regarding water resources.
