Paul Matey confirmed as U.S. Court of Appeals Judge for Third Circuit

March 14, 2019: Paul B. Matey was confirmed as a U.S. Court of Appeals Judge for the Third Circuit by the U.S. Senate on Tuesday, March 12, 2019. Matey, of New Jersey, was recently a senior vice president, general counsel and secretary at University Hospital in Newark, New Jersey. Matey was previously a Senior Counsel and Deputy Chief Counsel for former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie; an Assistant U.S. Attorney for New Jersey; a litigation associate at the Washington, D.C., law firm of Kellogg, Huber, Hansen, Todd, Evans and Figel for two years; and a Law Clerk for Judge Robert Cowen at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Matey received his B.A. degree from the University of Scranton, and he received his law degree from the Seton Hall University School of Law.
