April 12, 2019: Diane Gujarati was nominated as a U.S. District Court Judge for the Eastern District of New York on Monday, April 8, 2019. Gujarati is currently the Deputy Chief at the Criminal Division at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, where she has worked as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the past nineteen years. She also worked as an adjunct professor of clinical law at the New York University School of Law until earlier in 2019. Before she joined the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Gujarati practiced for three years as a litigation associate at the New York City office of Davis Polk and Wardwell, LLP. Gujarati received her B.A. degree from Barnard College at Columbia University, and she received her law degree from the Yale Law School.
