Lewis Liman nominated as U.S. District Court Judge for New York Southern District

April 12, 2019: Lewis J. Liman was nominated as a U.S. District Court Judge for the Southern District of New York on Monday, April 8, 2019. Liman, of New York, is a partner at the New York City office of Cleary Gottlieb Steen and Hamilton, LLP, where he has worked on civil, commercial and white-collar criminal litigation since she joined the law firm in 2003. Before he joined the law firm, Liman was a partner at Wilmer, Cutler and Pickering. Before he started working in private practice, Liman worked for five years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, where he rose to the position of Deputy Chief of Appeals. Liman received his B.A. degree from Harvard College, his M.Sc. from the London School of Economics, and his law degree from the Yale Law School.
