Mary McElroy nominated as U.S. District Court for Rhode Island

April 12, 2019: Mary E. McElroy was nominated as a U.S. District Court Judge for Rhode Island on Monday, April 8, 2019. McElroy, of Rhode Island, is currently the Public Defender for the Rhode Island state government, a position she has held since 2012. She previously worked for six years as an Assistant Federal Public Defender for Rhode Island. Before that, she worked for twelve years as an Assistant Public Defender for the Rhode Island state government. McElroy received her B.A. degree from Providence College, and she received her law degree from the Suffolk University School of Law.
