Martha Pacold nominated as U.S. District Court Judge for Illinois Northern District

April 12, 2019: Martha M. Pacold was nominated as a U.S. District Court Judge for the Northern District of Illinois on Monday, April 8, 2019. Pacold, of Illinois, is currently the Deputy General Counsel at the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Before that, she was the Executive Secretary at the department. Before that, Pacold was an associate and then a partner at the Chicago office of Bartlit Beck Herman Palenchar and Scott, LLP. She also worked as a lecturer in law at the University of Chicago Law School. Pacold previously worked as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, and as a Counsel to the Attorney General at the U.S. Department of Justice. Pacold received her B.A. degree from Indiana University, and she received her law degree from the University of Chicago Law School.
