Mary Rowland nominated as U.S. District Court Judge, Illinois Northern District

April 12, 2019: Mary M. Rowland was nominated as a U.S. District Court Judge for the Northern District of Illinois on Monday, April 8, 2019. Rowland, of Illinois, has worked as a U.S. Magistrate Judge for the Northern District of Illinois since 2012. Before that, Rowland worked for twelve years as a partner at the Chicago law firm of Hughes, Socol, Piers, Resnick and Dym, Ltd. Rowland previously worked for ten years at the Chicago office of the Federal Defender Program, first as a Staff Attorney and later as the office’s Chief Appellate Attorney. Rowland received her B.A. degree from the University of Michigan, and she received her law degree from the University of Chicago Law School.
