Barbara Bazron hired as Acting Director, Washington, D.C., Department of Behavioral Health

April 12, 2019: Barbara Bazron was hired as the Acting Director of the Washington, D.C., Department of Behavioral Health by Mayor Muriel Bowser on Tuesday, April 9, 2019. Bazron was most recently the Deputy Secretary at the Maryland Department of Health’s Behavioral Health Administration. That division oversees the treatment of substance abuse, gambling disorders and mental health services. Bazron was previously the Acting Director and the Senior Deputy Director of D.C.’s Department of Behavioral Health. Bazron received a bachelor of arts degree from Oberlin College; a master of education degree from the University of Cincinnati, and a doctor of philosophy from the University of Pittsburgh.
