Bob Pevenstein resigns as Member, Board of Regents, University System of Maryland

May 15, 2019: Bob Pevenstein resigned as a Member of the University System of Maryland Board of Regents on Monday, May 13, 2019. Pevenstein had previously resigned as a Member of the University of Maryland Medical System Board of Directors last month, April, 2019. Officials at the University of Maryland System Board of Regents did not release a reason for Pevenstein’s resignation. The Board of Regents oversees the educational, financial and administrative operations for the System’s twelve member institutions, including The University of Maryland at College Park. Pevenstein was appointed to the University of Maryland Board of Regents by Gov. Larry Hogan in 2015. In April, 2019, Hogan signed legislation aimed at making the Board of Regents more open to the public. Among the changes were expanding the Board of Regents from seventeen to twenty-one Members, and requiring the Board to livestream all of its public meetings.
