U.S. Rep. Chari Bustos, Illinois Democrat, appointed Chairman, Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee

Dec. 3, 2018: U.S. Rep. Cheri Bustos, Illinois Democrat, was appointed as the Chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018. Bustos was previously the Co-Chairman of the Democratic Party’s Policy and Communications Committee in the House. In the Nov. 29 vote, Bustos defeated two challengers from Washington State, Reps. Suzan DelBene and Denny Heck. Bustos won 117 votes to Heck’s 83 and DelBene’s 32, winning the necessary majority by a single vote. A fourth candidate, Rep. Sean Maloney, New York Democrat, dropped out of the race on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018, due to illness.
