Tim Walz, Democrat, officially sworn in as 41st Governor of Minnesota

Jan. 9, 2019: Tim Walz, Mankato Democrat, was officially sworn in as the 41st Governor of Minnesota on Monday, Jan. 7, 2019. Walz was sworn in at an inauguration ceremony held at the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul, Minnesota. Outgoing Gov. Mark Dayton, Democrat, ended his second term on Monday, Jan. 7, 2019, ending a more-than-40-year political career. Walz was previously a Congressman and a high school history teacher. Walz and the state’s constitutional officers, all Democrats, were sworn in on Monday, Jan. 7, 2019. Keith Ellison is the new Attorney General, Julie Blaha is the new State Auditor and Steve Simon continues in office as the Secretary of State.
