Jennifer Boysko, Democrat, wins special election for Virginia State Senate District 33 seat

Jan. 10, 2019: Jennifer B. Boysko, Democrat, was elected in a special election held on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019, to the Virginia State Senate District 33 seat that was previously held by Jennifer Wexton, Democrat. Boysko, who is currently a Virginia State Delegate, defeated former Del. Joe T. May, Republican, 81, in the Jan. 8 special election. May worked for twenty years in the Virginia House of Delegates until he lost his Loudoun County seat in 2013. Boysko, 52, declared victory just forty-five minutes after the polls closed for the State Senate that includes parts of Loudoun and Fairfax counties in Northern Virginia. Wexton left the State Senate seat after she defeated former two-term U.S. Rep. Barbara Comstock, Republican, in the 2018 fall midterm elections.
