Phil Weiser sworn in as Colorado Attorney General

Jan. 10, 2019: Jared S. Polis, Democrat, was officially sworn in as the 43rd Governor of Colorado on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019. Polis, 43, made history with his election, as he is the first openly-gay man elected to lead a state as a Governor, and he is Colorado’s first Jewish Governor. Polis previously represented Boulder and other northern Colorado communities in Congress--from 2009 to 2019, he was the Representative for Colorado's Second Congressional District.. He was elected as Colorado's Governor after he defeated State Treasurer Walker Stapleton, Republican, in a November, 2018, general election. Along with Polis and his Lieutenant Governor, Dianne Primavera, three other statewide elected officials--Secretary of State Jena Griswold, Treasurer Dave Young and Attorney General Phil Weiser--also took the oath of office on Jan. 8, 2019. For the first time in seventy years, all Colorado statewide office holders are Democrats. Colorado voters also handed Democrats the State Senate, which had been under Republican control during the last four years.
