Eric Chewning appointed as Defense Department Chief of Staff

Jan. 10, 2019: Eric D. Chewning was appointed as the Chief of Staff at the Office of the Secretary at the U.S. Department of Defense on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019. Chewning was most recently the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Industrial Policy at the Defense Department, a position he held since October, 2017. Chewning previously worked as a U.S. Army Intelligence Officer. In the military, he won the Bronze Star Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal and the U.S. Army Combat Action Badge. After his work in the military, Chewning worked for a decade in the private sector. Before he worked for the Defense Department, Chewning worked as an investment banker at Morgan Stanley and as a partner at McKinsey and Company.
