Chris Schmitter appoitned Chief of Staff, Minnesota Governor's Office

Jan. 11, 2019: Chris Schmitter was appointed as the Chief of Staff at the Minnesota Governor’s Office by Gov. Tim Walz on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019. Schmitter, who is originally from Rochester, was previously the Deputy Chief of Staff and Legislative Director for Walz during Walz’s tenure at the U.S. House of Representatives. Schmitter also worked as the campaign manager during Walz’s first Congressional re-election race in 2008. A graduate of Georgetown University and the University of Minnesota Law School, Schmitter was a Law Clerk for Minnesota’s Chief U.S. District Court Judge, John Tunheim and for Judge Sidney Thomas, of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Schmitter most recently worked as a lawyer at the law firm of Green Espel PLLP, where he litigated for public- and private-sector clients.
