Wayne Turnage hired as Washington, D.C., Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services

March 12, 2019: Wayne Turnage was hired as the Washington, D.C., Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services by Mayor Muriel Bowser on Wednesday, March 6, 2019. Turnage is currently the Director of the D.C. Department of Health Care Finance, and he was most recently also the Acting Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services. He has been named to retain the position of Director of the Health Care Finance Department while also holding his new position as Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services, according to the Mayor’s Office. Turnage was previously the Chief of Staff at Virginia Commonwealth University and a Deputy Secretary of Health and Human Resources for former Virginia Gov. Mark Warner. Turnage received a master of public administration degree from The Ohio State University.
